Hey gang, long time no speak. If you're wondering what's brought me out of my semi-retirement today, it's the rumor concerning Infinity Ward that's spreading like wildfire across the internet right now.

While no one knows for sure what exactly is going on, about 2 and a half hours ago, G4 reported that a large contingent of security entered the studio's offices and that studio heads Vince Zampella and Jason West have not been seen on the premises since. Sources also state that the two men had a meeting with Activision executives earlier in the day.

While reports state that there has been a lot of tension between Activision and the Call of Duty developer of late, I don't think anybody would expect a major shakeup of any kind at a developer with a record of bringing home the bacon the way Infinity Ward does. None the less, something big has apparently gone down.

IW's community manager Robert Bowling (FourZeroTwo) has apparently been getting hit with requests for information, and has posted on his Twitter account that he has nothing to report at the time and is as in the dark as the rest of us.

"I should also say, while I appreciate all the calls, tweets, messages and hearing my ringtone a lot. They're in vain - as I have no info." - Robert Bowling via Twitter

Adding to the intrigue is a Facebook status update from someone who may or may not be Jason West stating that he is now unemployed.

"Jason West is drinking. Also, no longer employed." - Facebook entry of someone claiming to be Jason West (Unverified at this time)

It should be noted that some people are calling this a public relations stunt designed to take some steam away from Battlefield: Bad Company 2's release today, but I really just can't see that as being the case - after all, 95% of the people buying the game have no clue who Jason West and Vince Zampella are.

If this does turn out to be true, I'd like to send my hopes for the best possible outcome to anyone at IW who is being let go right now. You guys have provided my friends and I with countless hours of incredible entertainment. All I can say is this - many of you guys went through this once before as 2015 when you were with Electronic Arts and came out even stronger. You can do it again.
